Hey, so I was on my way to bed last night, looking for something a little androgynous to watch, and discovered that--horror of horrors!--my copy of Velvet Goldmine was nowhere to be found. I have not, as of yet, checked with my roommate and LUVV-AAAAHHH as to the location of this prized possession of mine, but, rest assured, I will.
This weekend, Jaret and I gained a roommate, and I attended my first bachelorette party.
The roommate: his name is Tony. He is our friend. He used to live in Fresno, but then he had two very naughty and not-at-all stable roommates (they were brothers) and they chased poor Tony out of the land of lemons and breast implants. So Tony came back home and got a job working at the only thing truer in Iowa City than strong attendance at an Iowa football game and freshman vomit in the back of a Cambus--a Mondonero-owned and operated eatery. We're giving him the spare BR for a month. He loves Friends and plays video games. He drinks cheap beer and sleeps with a fan. He was in every student film I ever made and he calls Jaret Mo Cheeks. He doesn't mind the rogue asscrack and he doesn't judge me for getting drunk at home. So we're set. For the time-being.
The Bachelorette Party: was for one Ms. Melinda Claussen. There was a solid amount of penis, but not too much. There was the wearing of a bridal veil to the bars, but only for half of the evening. There were the fair share of gag gifts, but an equal amount of tasteful body products and practical gift certificates were presented as well. There were also jello shots. I have it on good authority that no one in the free world mixes up a jello shot like Liesel. I also have it on good authority that no one vomits a prettier assortment of colors upon drinking Liesel's jello shots than my brother Andy. Mindy is beautiful and a fabulous booty-shaker, so she was greeted at most bars by a line of men waiting to dance with and/or ogle her. It was refreshing to know that some things never change.
And now I'll go back to work.
