And I spent the last two days accidentally-on-purpose running into someone who, regardless of his intense naivete and the fact that safety pins are now holding together his favorite shirts and who just discovered discouragement, maintains this spot in my brain right next to the sex dreams on one side and the dirty darlings I've accomodated on the other. It's the spot reserved for comfort and so much love, and Jake normally fills it when he's in town especially if he is carrying a six-pack. And my brother occupies it often, especially if there's pot and Goonies. And Kate never ever ever sits there (she lights the comfy spot aflame and dances in the firelight cackling maniacally, crushing puppies with her boot heel and gnawing on babies).
So he's home and I missed him and now he's here and lovely and lovely.
