2006-03-17 - 5:08 p.m. The VP of the company just caught me casually flipping through Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office: Unconscious Mistakes Women Make that Sabotage Their Careers. This is embarrassing for several reasons, the least of which is that I’m not to be free-reading in my cube unless I’m on a break. Corporate America is positively inundated with self-helplings: folks who won’t take two steps forward unless Stephen Covey gives them the thumbs-up. And now, along with that horrendous “adult” switch to non-fiction reading (just in case that doesn’t read, I’m fucking kidding), I’ve also decided that Lois P. Frankel, the author of the aforementioned, pink-lettered, guide to my new life, and others like her may be worth checking in to.
